Situated in a box-shaped canyon and surrounded by rugged mountains rising as high as 14,000 feet in elevation, Telluride is designated as a National Historic Landmark District due to its historical significance and natural beauty. The charming town is only 12 blocks long and eight blocks wide, but features a range of heritage buildings, including homes from the Victorian era. Telluride is also known for its art galleries, unique shops, and gourmet eateries.
Telluride attracts many visitors each year, and is most famous for its alpine skiing. However, the town is also popular with hiking enthusiasts, and there are more than 90 hiking trails in the area. Other activities to enjoy in Telluride include taking part in historical walks around the town, riding the gondola, and attending cultural events and film and music festivals.
